In some very exciting news, it’s been announced The Witcher III: Wild Hunt Remastered is on its way to the Switch 2 this September.
Some additional details about the Nintendo version have been shared via an eShop description. According to the official store listing, if you own the game on the original Switch, you’ll be able to claim the remaster for free! Pre-orders for this are now live.
The eShop description mentions the game will be available on 29th September 2026. Here’s the full notice about this from Nintendo’s online store page:
If you own The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on Nintendo Switch, you’ll be able to claim The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered for free on Nintendo Switch 2 once released!
Please note that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered is a separate download on Nintendo Switch 2, and when downloaded will be visible as a separate icon on your Home menu.
CD Projekt Red’s Michal Nowakowski has also confirmed this free upgrade will apply to physical copies of the game. The Witcher 3 social media account has elaborated on this:
“You can now pre-order the Remastered version for free on Nintendo eShop. If you own a physical copy, don’t worry – you’ll be able to claim the free upgrade when Remastered launches on September 29.”
The Witcher 3 remaster comes loaded with visual improvements, as well as enhancements to the gameplay. The eShop page also lists HDR, a refresh rate of 120Hz and touch screen support.
