The Elder Scrolls 6 Is Reportedly Still Years Away from Release

Last we heard, The Elder Scrolls 6 was in a playable state over at Bethesda — but any dreams of it releasing within the next year are so have now been dashed (again).

During a recent Bloomberg Live Q&A, the ever-informative Jason Schreier reportedly stated that the open world RPG is still “two to three years away at least”.

Optimistic fans had previously speculated that The Elder Scrolls 6 might be closer than most people expect — especially after Bethesda boss Todd Howard came out said that the project had reached “a big milestone internally”. This was back in February.

But we’ve still seen nothing of the Skyrim successor — not since its initial teaser over eight years ago. Sheesh!

The general feeling around all of this is that Bethesda has good reason to take its time. Its last major release, Starfield, did very little to ease fears around The Elder Scrolls 6, and it’s probably fair to say that faith in the developer is at an all-time low.

The Elder Scrolls 6 has to be a winner, then. What’s left of the company’s reputation pretty much hangs in the balance — and that’s without even mentioning the ongoing mass layoffs across Xbox.

It’s worth pointing out that Skyrim will celebrate its 20th anniversary in 2031 , we’ve gone 15 years without a new Elder Scrolls game, and I think that’s absolutely insane considering the weight of the property.

When do you think The Elder Scrolls 6 will finally arrive? Give up on waiting in the comments section below.
