The news of Stellar Blade’s proper Switch 2 physical release last week got us so very excited that we almost missed one crucial detail: it’s arriving on a new, smaller cart.
As highlighted on the Panax store, Stellar Blade is shipping on a 32GB cartridge — half the size of the usual 64GB ones that have appeared as standard on Switch 2 so far. (Thanks, Nintenderos.)
The game will be one of the first to receive the smaller cart, which Nintendo reportedly put into production late last year. The 32GB option will hopefully provide publishers a cheaper alternative to the full 64GB, while still managing to get the full game on the cartridge (a neat alternative to Game-Key Cards, no?).
Does this mean we’ll see even more cartridge sizes for Switch 2 in the future? That remains to be seen. But whatever opens the gates to more options other than a GKC, that feels like a win to us.

It landed as a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment in yesterday’s Direct, but Stellar Blade: Complete Edition finally has a Switch 2 release date, and the physical option isn’t a Game-Key Card!
The game will launch on Switch 2 on 5th November for £54.99 / $59.99, and digital pre-orders are now available from the Switch eShop. Those after a boxed copy (which, we’ll say it again, is complete on-cartridge) can now pre-order the swanky steelbook edition from Panax for £69.99 / $69.99. And all pre-orders come with some bonus cosmetic items for EVE.
And speaking of cosmetics, the release date trailer also revealed that the Complete Edition will feature four collab Bayonetta suits. We’ve seen three of these so far (Bayonetta, Nun and Jeanne), and Shift Up is keeping the fourth a secret for the time being.
Now sure, 5th November is rapidly becoming a rather busy day for us Nintendo fans, but it’s nice to know that we’ll have access to this PS5 hit before long.
