Linux / SteamOS gaming continues to level up with a Proton Experimental update to get more Windows games working well on Steam Deck, Steam Machine and others.
As a quick reminder on what it is – Proton Experimental is like their testing ground for future stable numbered version Proton updates (like the upcoming Proton 11 that’s still in Beta). You can install any version of Proton by just searching for “Proton” in your Steam Library. If you already have them installed, they will just show up as updates in your Steam Downloads. For July 2nd, Valve launched a new update, here’s the changes:
- Fixed Escape from Monkey Island crashing on some setups.
- Fixed audio issues in DRAGON QUEST BUILDERS happening after device suspend.
- Fixed Proton Experimental regressions:
- Debug menu in SCP: Secret Laboratory works again.
- Deathloop is playable again with NVIDIA GPUs.
- Fixed Proton 11 regressions:
- Natural Selection 2 should be able to connect to servers again.
