Looks like the majority of people are willing to splash $100 on a game, at least when it comes to GTA 6, arguably the biggest game release in modern history.
In an interview with CNBS, Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Rockstar’s parent company Take-Two Interactive discussed GTA 6 pre-orders, saying they “have gone much better than expected” and revealing that more people opted for the $100 Ultimate Edition.
In the video above, Zelnick credits “avid consumers” for forking out the extra $20 for the more expensive edition, stating that pre-orders are “skewing more towards the premium edition”. That certainly seems to be the case on the Xbox Store too, with GTA 6’s Ultimate Edition sitting just behind Gears of War: E-Day‘s Premium offering.

Pre-ordering the Standard Edition will set you back £69.99 / $79.99 and includes the base game, one month of GTA+ and The Vintage Vice City Pack.
Players can upgrade to the Ultimate Edition at any time for an extra $20 / £20 which gives you all the stuff included in the cheaper option, but with the addition of:
- ’95 Grotti Cheetah
- Hawk & Little Morgan Revolver
- Personalised Weapon Variants
- Vice City Style (Cosmetics)
- Jason’s Safehouse Vehicles
- Ganado Retro Build
- Shitzu Squalo
- ’67 Vapid Dominator Buggy & Garage
- Gootdtime Gear
- PTT Youngin$ Compound
- Classic Car Collection
- Five Special Destinations (Exclusive to Ultimate Edition)
Anticipation and expectation for GTA 6 are through the roof, something the Take-Two boss says Rockstar fully understands. He says the team knows it’ll need to “exceed expectations”, and believes it’ll do exactly that.
It’s also worth mentioning that Zelnick suggested we shouldn’t expect the game to show up in any holiday sales for quite some time either.
If you don’t, or can’t cough up the £89.99 / $99.99 from the get go, GTA 6 Standard Edition owners can upgrade to the Ultimate Edition later down the line. When we asked you what version of GTA 6 you’re likely to get, it looked like the majority of PXers wanted the $100 version.
