Atlus’ Persona series sold a million copies during the three months of Sega‘s last financial quarter. Hype for Persona 4 Revival (coming next February) and Persona 6 (coming sometime after) might have had something to do with the continued sales momentum, of course, but the series is also home to some of the best JRPGs ever made. Becoming evergreen sellers comes with the territory.
Publisher Sega recently published its financial results for the first quarter of its 2027 fiscal year, which runs from the beginning of April to the end of June 2026. The Like A Dragon franchise sold well over 600,000 copies in that frame, Sonic the Hedgehog neared a million copies sold, but Persona remained king with more than a million copies sold across all games in the series.
Those stats seem especially impressive considering the high-schooling, demon-slaying series didn’t see a new game release during those three months. Persona 3 Reload was ported to Switch 2 last October, but there hasn’t been a totally new entry in the franchise for a couple of years now.

Last we heard, earlier this summer, Persona had sold a whopping 30 million copies combined, with Persona 5 making up an absurd chunk of that pie.
Probably not coincidentally, Sega’s last quarter took place during the reveal of Persona 6 and a deep dive into Persona 4 Revival, so the series was likely front and center in the minds of the JRPG-loving public. Now’s a good a time as any to jump into the series for the first time or catch up on the classics you might have missed, after all.
Persona’s momentum in general bodes well for Atlus since Persona 4 Revival doesn’t launch until February, 2027, and we’ve been warned to not expect much from Persona 6 until after the remake comes out, either.
