It’s time for Tokyo Game Show 2026, and Sony’s latest sale promotes the show while dropping prices on thousands of games.
Live until 23rd September, the Tokyo Game Show sale includes a boatload of PS5 and PS4 games going cheap, and it’s a lot to look through.
To get to some of the good stuff, we’ve put together a list of titles we recommend while they’re on offer.
Everything listed here has at least a 7/10 score from Push Square, and every game is at its lowest price point, with some setting new lows in this sale.

Vanillaware’s immaculate track record could have easily gone off the rails with 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim — a visual novel and strategy hybrid that’s a far cry from the action RPGs that the studio has become known for. But the finished product is arguably the developer’s most impactful game yet. Fantastic characters and a an utterly gripping narrative make 13 Sentinels a borderline masterpiece in terms of storytelling. A genuine treat for your eyes and your brain.

Age of Mythology: Retold is a remastered version of Ensemble Studio’s hugely influential 2002 original. With a fresh coat of HD paint, a visual overhaul for every game unit, and brand new animations, Retold is a nostalgic jaunt for seasoned veterans and an excellent jumping-on point for interested newcomers.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora translates James Cameron’s hugely successful movie franchise into an open world action adventure, and it works rather well. Playing in first-person, you explore the gorgeous world of Pandora, realised here in stunning detail. The gameplay is broadly what you’d expect, with simple combat, light crafting, and engaging exploration all working to put you in a Na’vi’s shoes. For fans of the franchise, this is a great interactive iteration.

Avowed is arguably Obsidian’s strongest modern release, and it’s not for the reasons that you may think. While the game’s writing and storytelling often lack bite and excitement, its gameplay saves the day with a cracking combat system, meaningful player choice, and the enjoyable exploration of some truly stunning locales.

Ball X Pit is a dangerously addictive roguelite that combines the speedy runs and rapid leveling up of Vampire Survivors with the ball-bouncing action of Breakout. It’s one of those concepts that’ll make you question why a game like it hasn’t been done before, because it works brilliantly. Every element of the game feeds into something else, and the result is this incredibly compelling game that has a surprising amount to see and do.

There have been climbing games before, but Cairn is a really unique example. To scale the huge Mount Kami, you need to control Aava’s limbs individually, looking out for the best holds as you inch upward. On top of the challenging, physics-based mountaineering, you also need to keep on top of her health and hunger, but these survival aspects never feel too overbearing. It’s a nicely balanced game with climbing that feels tangible and realistically tough.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered brings one of the best and most influential first-person shooters to PS4. Though it shows its age somewhat these days, the game’s single-player campaign is still fantastic, with some particularly breathtaking moments still holding up very well. The multiplayer is preserved here, too, and is arguably the best part. Again, it’s been bettered in the years since, but there’s no denying just how much the online functionality of this title changed the landscape. It’s still a lot of fun, and there’s a certain charm to its simplicity.

If you’re looking for a breather after those big, violent blockbusters, Chicory: A Colorful Tale is a perfect antidote. This charming indie game will pull you in with its adorable characters and cartoonish aesthetic, but it pairs all that with compelling gameplay and a touching story. You wield a magical brush with which you can paint the environment however you see fit, and you’ll also use colour to solve puzzles and even fight bosses, solo or in co-op. An imaginative and heartfelt game.

Remember Crash Bandicoot? The madcap marsupial makes a grand return on PS4 in Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, a remake of his first three adventures. The games may be relatively old, but they’ve been brought up to modern standards with colourful graphics and updated gameplay. There’s lots of fun to be had across this trio of platformers, with hours and hours worth of tricky levels to run through.

A wonderful recreation of the PS1 original, Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled is a real blast from the past. Drift boosting through beautifully rebuilt tracks in the generous Adventure mode or taking the racing online is a lot of fun. Much like the PS1 title it’s based on, this is an arcade racing game with tight controls, surprising difficulty, and lots to see and do. Despite some areas that could’ve done with modernising, this is probably just about the best kart racer on PS4.

Capcom has brought back its cult classic in style with Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster. You’re trapped inside a shopping mall infested with the undead, and you only have so much time before things truly go south. With modernised visuals, streamlined gameplay, and other new features, this is now arguably the definitive version of the zombie action title.

Masterful in its storytelling, characters, and visuals, Kojima Productions went bigger and better with a sequel that comfortably dwarfs what the Japanese team achieved in its first delivery experience. Main character Sam is once again tasked with reconnecting a land mass to the chiral network, but this time his deliveries are further and expanded to encompass proper combat scenarios. Death Stranding 2 is a cinematic achievement on all fronts that will remain one of the crown jewels of the PS5 library forever.

Death Stranding Director’s Cut takes the truly unique “strand game” adventure and dials things up a notch for PS5. Hideo Kojima and his team created a haunting and strange world with the original game, tasking players with traversing a desolate and dangerous landscape to make deliveries. It shouldn’t work, but it does — every step you take can be a risk, and this need to watch your footing is an interesting way to create tension, especially when those nasty BTs show up. Director’s Cut enhances the experience with improved graphics and performance, DualSense support, 3D audio, and a range of new content.
